The Mahdasht Milk and Meat Complex, which is the largest livestock unit in the north of the country, was built in 1988 and was put into operation with the import of 600 registered pregnant Holstein heifers from Canada. The area of this unit is 509 hectares and dairy cattle breeding, agriculture and aquaculture activities are carried out in this unit. The capacity of the Mahdasht dairy unit is 5,500 heads and the daily milk production is about 100 tons.
